Curly / Twisted Willow Cuttings x 5
Salix matsudana ‘Tortuosa’ (Corkscrew Willow)
Unusual willow branches are a favourite addition to spring bouquets. Their beautifully twisted stems pair perfectly with tulips and narcissi, or look equally striking displayed on their own in a vase. In early spring, the fresh, zingy foliage adds a vibrant touch of green.
Cuttings are easy to grow and can be planted directly into the ground, keeping them well watered through spring and summer. Alternatively, insert them into a pot of compost to root, or our preferred method is to place them in water until roots develop, then pot on or plant out.
This fast-growing willow will develop into a large tree over time, so regular pruning is recommended. Pollarding or coppicing each spring will help maintain a manageable size and encourage the production of fresh, decorative stems.
It can reach approximately 3–5 metres in height but responds well to pruning if a smaller size is desired.
